Lyocell

We often use lyocell, and other so-called regenerate fibers, in collections for leisurewear and loose-fit gym clothes. There are many regenerated fibers such as lyocell, modal and rayon, which are all made from natural raw materials, most commonly cellulose from wood or other plant materials, which undergo a chemical process to transform them into a spinnable fiber. These fibers combine properties from natural and synthetic materials, making them soft and flexible.

The production of lyocell can be environmentally problematic due to chemical-intensive processes, risk of deforestation and high resource consumption if it is not manufactured using sustainable methods and certified raw materials. That's why we are committed to using only TENCEL™ Lyocell, our preferred lyocell option, by 2030.

TENCEL™ Lyocell

The fiber is made from traceable wood cellulose from sustainably grown trees which then goes through an environmentally friendly process where solvents are recycled (to over 99%) in a closed cycle, minimizing waste and chemical emissions. TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are also certified as biodegradable and compostable.
