Modal

We use modal, and other so-called regenerate fibers, in leisurewear and loose-fit gym clothes collections. There are many regenerated fibers such as lyocell, modal and rayon, which are all made from natural raw materials, most commonly cellulose from wood or other plant materials, which undergo a chemical process to transform them into a spinnable fiber. These fibers combine properties from natural and synthetic materials, making them soft and flexible.

The production of modal can be environmentally problematic due to chemical-intensive processes, risk of deforestation and high resource consumption, if it is not manufactured using sustainable methods and certified raw materials. That's why we are committed to using only TENCEL™ Modal, our preferred modal option, by 2030.

TENCEL™ Modal

The production of TENCEL™ Modal uses a closed cycle where the solvent used to convert wood cellulose into fiber is recycled to over 99%, minimizing chemical emissions and waste. The production also uses less water and energy than many other regenerated fibers. In addition, the raw material comes from sustainably managed forests, which reduces the risk of deforestation.
